Sample of collar/print idea

This is a sample i have created whilst thinking about different way in which i can print onto my fabric and keep neat clean pleats still in place, whilst making the print look very effective with the blank fabric coming through the inside of the pleats.

This was seperate parts and sewn together i will have to cut out my collar pattern and then print onto my fabric, making sure i measure the inside and outside pleats carefully.

Print ideas for collar.

Print ideas-

Thinking about patterns created with shapes, led me to animal skins and prints.
With my collar i want to pleat it and then print on top of the fabric.
To make me collar stand out, i want to use bright pictures, and preferably of animals.
I want my collar to be a statement piece for the summer and the animal idea would work well for it.
So....
I found some old holiday pictures i took at a zoo where i managed to get some good close ups of animals.
Here are a few ideas.

Iguana - #1 This picture has a good mix of colours, i like the red and purple tones.

Iguana #2 This close up would work well because of the expression on the animals face.

Giraffe #1 i just really like this close up to be honest. :)

Giraffe #2 this one would work best for the collar.

Giraffe #3 This one would be effective because of what the giraffe is doing.

I will find and post a few more ideas.

Week 3 of 3rd year work

Third and final week helping georgiana.
Her collection was complete except for a jersey top she had rushed and wanted to sew up again.
And a skirt she needed to finish.
From this week i have realised that when doing the final collection rushing garments wont help.
Georgiana realised she had sewn something wrong and that her skirt then didnt fit a basic size 10 so then had to start her piece.
Keeping organised helped her as she now only has a few things left to do.

This week i unpicked her top and skirt and pressed open seams for her.
I also researched into leather portfolios for her and also recent lookbooks on the web.
I've enjoyed working with my 3rd year, I wasnt bothered about the jobs i was given as i find unpicking to be relaxing.
It has helped me think about how organised i should be in my third year.
It has also helped me to decide my pathway choice.

Performative Geometrics

Idea and sample sheet.

Here i experimented with paper and fabric to create shapes in materials.

I was aiming to create a 3D effect by folding and heat pressing.

I used the heat press on the fabric sample to create the structure.

The samples have worked well, and i think i will experiment more with a firmer material like felt to create this shape again.

Deconstruct + Reconstruct Sheet

Research sheet

- creating samples and thinking of ways i can convert this into a piece.

Paris Photos #1

Graffiti Cigarette.

We spotted this on our way back from jim morrisons grave on our last day in paris.

I think its quite cute for a picture of a cigarette.

Half a year has gone by and im finally getting my paris pictures up.

Collar ideas - Deconstruct Reconstruct.

Here are two collars i cerated by cutting off the bottom of a shirt and pleating to create a circular effect.

I am going to experiment with ways in which i could involve performative geometrics to make my collars more unique.

I think i will create a neck piece for my final piece.

Week 2 of 3rd year work

This week my assigned third year was back and well!

I've personally enjoyed having met and helped two third years as i have gained different opinions on what pathways they took.

This week i helped georgiana by sewing the loops that would keep her garments on the hangers to her pieces and did small finishes like adding fastenings and sewing up linings. I also researched into finishings for her pieces and helped her find a website to decorate the paper bags that would hold her pieces too.

She also offered for me to come along on her collections shoot, but as the location is harrogate i might not have time to rush back.

Fingers crossed that i can.

I also collected samples of fabrics she used on her collection.

Theres quite a few!!
